Will Writing

What is Will Writing?

Before we pass away, we all want to make sure we leave something behind to our loved ones. Unfortunately, British law is sometimes complicated, which means without a Will, your family may have to spend a lot of time and money to receive what they are rightfully due.

Believe it or not, only 20% of the adult population will leave a Will before they die. This is very surprising! However, it isn’t a statistic anyone should aim to be part of.

Will writing can help you ensure that…

Your money and assets go to the people you’d like them to
Any children younger than 18 years old receive guardian protection
Your money goes to any charities you choose
You get to choose the executors of your Will
Your next of kin doesn’t have to pay over the top for inheritance tax

How Can Will Writing Help?

To ensure your Will is legally binding, it needs support and guidance from a professional. That, of course, is where I come in!

Please remember, too, that my service is purely advisory. That means if you need more time to make a decision, or you’d like to move in a different direction, there’s no obligation!

I’m here to help you set up the best Will to protect your interests and your family’s future.

A Will writer can help you:

  • Understand legal terms and jargon
  • Set up the best executors for your estate
  • Make sure all the right boxes are ticked
  • Edit or make changes to an existing Will
  • Understand trusts, gifts, charity payments and lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Decide where how to best handle your money and assets

What Happens If I Don’t Write a Will?

If you don’t produce a Will during your lifetime, any family will have to obey the rules of Intestacy and could end up with all your assets and money tied up in probate.

To avoid adding undue stress and expense to your family, I always recommend considering writing a Will as soon as possible.

How Do I Get Started?

Understandably, deciding to set up a Will can be sensitive. That’s why I always make sure to give you as much time and space as you need.

I can arrange to visit you at home to discuss your Will in as much detail as you like. Or you can come to see me here in my Wakefield office.

If you want to start setting up a Will, all it takes is a quick phone call or email to set things in motion.

Even if you just want a quick, friendly chat about your Will options, or are unsure what the process is likely to entail, I am only ever a call away.
